Today was Daisy's first day of settling into her new environment. Shortly before lunch my friend Sandra stopped by with her German Shepard, Isack. That guy is about 2.5 times Daisy's size. He's a nice and relaxed guz and after a few tense moments at the beginning, they were getting along and socializing with each other. So Daisy has already made 2 doggy friends, with whom she gets along with.
Later I took Daisy for a nice and easy at Viehofner Seen. That are 3 lakes, some of them not much bigger as a pond, that are an quiet and great place to hang out and take your dog for a walk. As always Daisy was super excited to go for a ride in the car. Hanging out at the lakes was tons of fun for her...and checking out the hundreds of new scents for was great as well. Almost gave her sensory overload. But Daisy definitely had tons of run running back and forth...left and right and checking scents almost at every single bush. Was great seeing her that excited. As far as I could tell she was making quite good progress with starting to settle in.
Later in the evening she got to experience her first thunderstorm in Austria. Although the thunder wasn't actually that loud she didn't like it a bit. She pressed her body against my legs and pretty much gave me the look: 'Daddy, please make it go away!' Since that was something I couldn't pull off I did the next best thing to that. I let her lie in the bed with me, that way she felt very secure protected by my body on e left and by the wall on the right. Fortunately the thunderstorm only lasted less than 1 hour and she was doing very well considering how much my girl hates lightning and thunder. All in all it was a great day and she is making good progress settling in.
