Today is my Mom's 73rd Birthday. Initially my brother-in-law had planned to cook for her birthday. My dad didn't want to hear anything about that. He was arguing that cooking in 100 F temps in the evening was a terrible idea. I haven't been part of that family dynamic for the past 8 years (that certainly is one of the major benefits of having lived abroad) and I don't plan on going down that road again. It's just too stressful. After they all had argued back and forth for some time, it was decided that we would have dinner with my Mom at the Bootshaus, a Restaurant a couple of miles from my parents.
We got there around 6.30 pm. It's a nice place to hang out and have dinner...and they do have excellent food. I had a very yummy Porcini Meal (a local mushroom). I haven't had porcini in at least 10+ years. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their meal and my Mom had quite fun at her birthday celebration!
