We took the I-5 all the way up north, through the absolutely flat and boring CA Central Valley. The boredom is only being interrupted by Tree Orchards and quite intense smell of cow manure. Periodically I had to shut off the cruise control otherwise I would have fallen asleep. The only positive side is that the I-5 is the shortest way to get up north and since it's completely flat you use less gas.
Around 12.30 we stopped for lunch at Del Taco in Santa Nella. Once we were done with lunch we decided to fill the truck up again and then continued on the I-5 North. We went through Stockton and Sacramento, but didn't stop anywhere along the way, since we had done a CA-Vacation in 2005 and we wanted to get as far north as we possibly could.
After driving for over 400 miles I decided a north of Sacramento that it was time to let Kenny do a little of the driving. Of course I could have driven the remaining 200 miles... but because you can do something, doesn't necessarily mean that you should. So Kenny took over and it gave me a chance to relax a little and to enjoy the scenery that got nicer and nicer with each mile we drove further north.
Around 8.30 pm we reached our Hotel in Mt. Shasta. All in all it was a very good first day of our road trip. But Kenny and I are both happy that we made it to the hotel and can relax. On this road trip we brought Daisy along. At times she wasn't quite too sure what to make about the commotion, but for most parts she was doing absolutely beautifully. And Daisy absolutely loves to go on trips in the car.
For tomorrow we have planned to drive up to Mt. Hood in Oregon... and that are roughly about 400 miles. I will keep you guys posted on hour road trip!!
