I do realize that I said about 2011 that it was a year of big changes. When I had to pick up the pieces of my life and start all over again, plan a transcontinental move with the dog and get used to living in Austria once again. It was the year of big changes more from an geographic point of view. 2012 on the other hand is the year of big changes from a personal point of view. Besides my regular Sex-Dates I did start with the Dating Game back in September. But lets start at the beginning.
January:
I decided to basically go back to school and get my accounting certification. After having been away from Austria for almost 10 years that seemed to be the right thing to do. Going back to school with 40 is actually not quite that easy. Most of January I spend attending accounting classes...6 hours per day and that 5 days a week. And on weekends I was already preparing for the upcoming exam later that year.
February:
Besides the 1 week off for the midterms holidays it was accounting all month long...and yes it gets exhausting with the time.
March:
Another month filled with accounting classes. My classes ended 10 days before the exam. These 10 days were really tough as I had to prepare for my certification exam. So I really didn't have time to celebrate my 41st birthday at all. First up was the written exam, and it's a lot tougher than I thought it would be, but in the end I did pass up. Next up was the oral accounting exam and I passed this exam with an A+. So in the end I did get my accounting certification.
April:
Here are 2 main events. over the past couple of month I had realized that my eyesight on my right eye was getting worse. Turns out I do have a cataract on this eye and it needed to be fixed surgically. But I wouldn't get an appointment till the beginning of May. And the deterioration of the relationship between the alleged co-contributor to my DNA code was speeding up.
May:
I underwent successfully cataract surgery on my right eye. And at the same time I speeded up my efforts in looking for a new job and had roughly about 10 job interviews. But till the end of May nothing really seemed to fit. Then I went to an job interview in Vienna's 23rd district. Didn't think much of it, but the CEO and I hit it off right away. A couple of days after the interview I got a call, that I had the job. I had been asked the come in the last week in May for my introduction to the new job. Everybody was happy for me except the alleged co-contributer to my DNA code. Not a clue why, other than the fact the he probably should be locked up in a mental institution.
June:
I started my job as accountant. And it is a lot of work, a lot to take in and it can be quite challenging at time. But I do love what I am doing. While I do love to go to work, the weekends have been terrible. I tried to spend as little time as possible at my parents. Now I truly understand sons who kill their fathers. The one who is suffering most from that is poor Daisy. And I swore that I would be starting to look for a new apartment with my first paycheck.
July:
Every day after work I spent time looking at possible apartments. But nothing really seemed to fit. I just didn't get the feeling "that's the right one". It was almost Mid-July when I looked at another apartment in Vienna's 12th district. It was a penthouse-style apartment, but with no elevator, so I didn't think to much about it. When I walked into the place I just knew...that's the right one. Put in an offer and about a week later I signed the lease. All of that wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't sold my Pickup in May. And of course the buying stuff for the new place and moving stuff in began right away.
August:
There was more moving in going on at the beginning of the month. Daisy's separation anxiety came back with a vengeance. The VET put her on anti-anxiety meds. Boy, I did hate seeing poor Daisy walk around almost like a robot, but she finally could handle staying in the new place all by herself. My co-worker quit and there was no word about an replacement and so I became Main-Accountant for both the Austrian and the German Sub-Company. It was also the month of the final big fight between the alleged co-contributor of my DNA code and I. I made it very clear that he is dead as far as I'm concerned and should I ever catch him anywhere near my apartment, I will have him arrested!
September:
I got a little help with the accounting work from a new co-worker. In Mid-September I was finally able to take Daisy off the anti-anxiety Meds and she now can handle staying all by herself without any problems. I was very happy about that.October:
Finally picked the final colors, that I want to paint my living room and bedroom in. Even bought the paint colors and painting supply, but just couldn't get myself motivated to get started.
November:
It was another busy month. But I did take time off for the Thanksgiving Weekend. Spent it painting the my living room. And I think it turned out nice. I even decided how I was going to place to furniture, but have yet to order it.
December:
I bought couch and TV-Stand for my new living room and blew my entire XMAS-Bonus on 50" Big Screen TV. It was pretty much my XMAS present to myself. Had it all set up for XMAS Eve and absolutely love it. This was also the first XMAS where it was just Daisy and I. But I have never ever had such a peaceful XMAS in Austria before...it was absolutely amazing.

Glad 2012 was a good one.. sorry to hear about your falling out with your Dad.. I knew things were bad.. just not that bad. Glad your job is working out and your apartment looks great.
