First shipping quote was from Schumacher Cargo and was for $ 1630. That was roughly the same as the first estimate for Allied Van Lines.
The 3 additional shipping quotes I received after that were far not that informative.
First up was DHL. Letting me know that if I plan to ship the household items via Ocean Cargo I need to call their Cargo Forwarding Department for a quote. They know how what items I intend to ship, how much boxes I want to ship and the exact dimension of each box. With all this information it shouldn't be that difficult to give a prospective customer a ballpark estimate. Telling someone on the other hand to call the Freight Forwarding Department for a quite isn't much of a customer service.
Next up was Crown Relocation Services. Well they weren't much better either. They have the exact same information as DHL, but couldn't provide a quote either. Their email response pretty much stated that they need to do a pre-move survey in order to provide a shipping quote.
The last email response was from Guardian Cargo...and I didn't get a quote their either. They want me to complete a online inventory form before being able to give me a quote.
So I will call DHL and Crown Relocation Services tomorrow for a quote or to set up a pre-move survey and I will out the online inventory form of Guardian Cargo....and then I will wait what they come up with. Apparently getting a shipping quote is more work than deciding what stuff to relocate!!
