News from the Dating "Front"...

There's news from the Dating "Front". Besides having my regularly scheduled sex-dates I've been seeing one new guy on a regular basis. We met online and hit it off right away. From the get go it was way more that the usual superficial chit chat. We actually could chat about substantial subjects without running out of things to say or getting on each others nerves. Besides all that we're both crazy about dogs and by a pure coincidence we're both accountants by profession. How crazy is that.
So we finally went out on a real date. Wasn't your average date, but a rather typical date when you"re a dog person. Once evening we went out on our date. And of course Daisy was coming along. We went for several rounds at Auer-Welsbach Park and as usual Daisy was having a blast. Herbert and I were having a great time was well and we could talk with each other as if we've known one another forever. In many situations we do think very much alike. On top of we do have the same sexual likes. By that I don't mean that we're both gay. I'm talking here about a affinity towards bondage and stuff that's not necessarily mainstream.
Till the end of the date Daisy hadn't quite made up her mind. That's really not that unusual since it takes here a long time to warm up to strangers. But she was quite curious about the guy. So that's a good sign as well.
We exchanged phone numbers and have been talking to each other in the chat and text messaging each other on a daily basis. I'm still not entirely certain where this is going...but on the other hand it has been one of the best dates in quite some time.

A tough Spot to be in...

Recently it has become quite apparent that I am in quite a though spot. There is just no easy answer...and it has to do with me co-worker. Yes I do understand that he is inexperienced and young and that he has his head anywhere but with his work. On the other hand that's really not my problem. Fact is that he's making way more mistakes than is actually tolerable. And he's been with the company now for 6 month and I just don't see any improvement. He asks me the same questions as he did 6 month ago. And sometimes I looks like he really doesn't like his job either. If he were at least looking for a solution before asking me what to do...well that would be a sign of improvement. And on top of that many of the questions are actually basic accounting questions. If you had accounting in school and have been with the accounting department for 6 month you shouldn't be asking questions like those.
I see all those mistakes when balancing out the transfer accounts between the different sub-companies, so I know that there are a lot of mistakes being made. And those mistakes are bound to come out the next time the tax guys get the accounting data.
So it's really quite a tough spot. On the one hand you don't want to be the guy who's throwing him under the bus and is going to talk to the boss about the issue. On the other hand my responsibility and loyalty towards my employer would demand just that. When the tax guys get the data they're going to bring up the entire issue.
I told my co-worker to have a talk with the boss about the issue before he's gonna hear it from the tax guys. But he still hasn't don't that either. Talking about the mistakes he makes doesn't seem to accomplish anything either.
If I say something to the boss...I'm definitely the bad guy. But on the other hand if I don't say anything at all will make me look bad in the eyes of my boss.
Up till now it looked like as if my co-worker had to prepare the accounting paperwork for the sub-company he's responsible for himself. But that's looking more and more unlikely. It looks like I will have to prepare that paperwork as well. If that should be the case I probably end up giving the boss a heads up about the issue.
Another problem with my co-worker is that he expects to be handed a working solution for every problem. But we're a family owned business and the boss expects us to be "Doers". You see a problem in the current procedure, you think it through, you come up with a solution and you implement the solution without bothering the boss or causing more administrative work than before.
Anyone with any thoughts about that issue would be highly appreciated.

Transferring my Domain...

Well, today I finally got notice that the Domain of my personal WebSite had finally been transferred. A Domain Transfer should be a piece of cake, but it isn't. The entire process was a royal pain in the ass and about 20 days in the making.
But let me start at the beginning. When I moved back from the States to Austria I managed to change almost all of my subscriptions over from my US Credit-Card to a payment option available to me Austria. For some reason I completely forgot about my hosting account. So when the time of the renewal came Kenny vetoed the charge. I talked to a very unhelpful customer service and at first it seemed that accepting the charge and sending Kenny the money via PayPal would have been easier. But, on top of the amount for the hosting account they wanted 35 bucks for the failed payment attempt. And I wasn't going to give that to them, especially since I can get my WebSite hosted by a local hosting company for 1/2 of the amount those guys were charging me. So I decided t go that route.
Due to the fact that the payment had been disputed the hosting account had been disabled. So I actually could neither cancel the account nor transfer the Domain. I wanted to transfer the Domain previous to canceling the account. So I had to talk to customer service. After a lot of back and forth they sent me an email where I could cancel the hosting account and they assured me once that had happened I would have limited access to my hosting account to transfer the Domain.
I get confirmation that the hosting account had been cancelled and that I supposedly had access to the hosting account once again. The important word here being supposedly. Fact is I did not have access to the account. I had to talk to customer service once again. After a lot of back and forth and proving that I am the owner of the hosting account they did unlock the Ad-On Domain and give me the Auth-Code to transfer the Domain.
One week prior I had signed a contract with a local hosting company that costs me about 1/2 of what I previously paid and still gives me about 20 Gig of WebSpace. For now that's plenty for my personal WebSite and I do have the option of upgrading it.
So I send the Auto-Code to my new WebHost. Get an email back within 24 hour that they received the code and will start the process of transferring the Domain. But it might take up to 10 business days for that to occur. Since I wasn't in a hurry anyways it really didn't bother me.
It gave me time to look into options of how I wanted to create my entirely revamped WebSite. After going through all the alternatives I pretty much comes down to 3 choices: Joomla, WordPress or Typo 3. I have some experience with Joomla and WordPress. Both are 2 CMS systems that are fine, but require some third-party plugins to accomplish what I have in mind. Typo 3 on the other hand is a CMS system with most of the tird-party plugins I think I will be needing already built in. The main difference is, that with Joomla and especially WordPress you can be up and running in no time at all. While doing your WebSite with Typo 3 takes a little more preparation but you save that time in the long run when your WebSite starts becoming more complex. So I've decided to give Typo 3 a try.
It's will be quite an interesting experience having to create my WebSite entirely from scratch. It's not going to happen over night, but eventually I will be getting there.

A hard Work Week...

This week was truly a hard week at work. Not only was the subject of my work quite demanding, but it also required very long hours. Being at work from 8 am to 7 pm with 1/2 hour lunch break is just no fun.
But that's part of being a Main-Accountant. You have to deal with all the corrections once the final paperwork comes back from the tax guys. These corrections are quite a mental challenge at times. Needless to say that I was very tired when getting off work and didn't want to do much than chilling in front of the TV before heading to bed. In this situation it's quite fortunate that I have a senior dog, that doesn't require that much exercise.
Now I'm really exited that this sort of stress is over and that I can enjoy myself once again. That will be true for the next 3 month or so. Then there I will have to start with the "fun task" of starting to compile the paper work for the tax guys. But other than that I truly love my job and I'm very happy at the company I am working for.
There was some positive development. My boss called me into his office and told me that He will be paying me 100 bucks more per month beginning in January and he also told me that he is very happy with the way I am doing my job. Hearing that from him and getting an acknowledgement of my work makes you really feel good.
